1. Hublot and Nespresso: Pioneering Brands in Recycling and Circularity

Hublot and Nespresso have established a special partnership for an innovative project focused on recycling and circularity. The result of this collaboration is the unique Big Bang watch, produced using recycled coffee grounds and Nespresso capsules.

The combination of Hublot and Nespresso is a perfect fusion, as both brands embody values and a pioneering spirit. Hublot has become an expert in developing new alloys and materials, while Nespresso has succeeded in designing a system to recycle aluminum from coffee grounds, enabling the reuse of each component.

2. Big Bang Unico Nespresso Origin: The Result of a Special Partnership

The Big Bang Unico Nespresso Origin is the outcome of this collaborative effort. This timepiece utilizes recycled aluminum from coffee capsules and used coffee grounds to create the case, bezel, push buttons, and pusher, as well as the strap. Notably, the Nespresso “N” logo is engraved on the crown, and the unique green color is inspired by the Master Origins Peru Organic capsule.

With dimensions of 42mm x 14.50mm and water resistance up to 10 ATM (100 meters/330 feet), the watch’s case is crafted from recycled aluminum, with 28% of the aluminum sourced from Nespresso coffee pods. The case is anodized to achieve a vibrant green color and then finished with satin and polished accents. The case back and packaging are made from Eco-Titanium (recycled titanium).

The dial of the watch displays gears, column wheel chronograph, and date disc. A subsidiary dial shows a 60-minute counter at the 3 o’clock position, visually balanced by a running seconds skeleton frame at the 9 o’clock position.

The Big Bang Unico Nespresso Origin comes with two straps: one made of rubber and another made of fabric. Both straps feature the patented One Click system for easy interchangeability. To create the rubber strap, Hublot carefully balances the composition, including 4.1% coffee grounds, 8.2% recycled white rubber, and the standard Hublot formula. For the fabric strap, Hublot collaborated with SingTex, a Nespresso partner, to utilize a recycled fabric called Scafé, which contains 5% coffee grounds and 95% recycled polyester.

Accessories such as the deployment clasp for the rubber strap and the sports buckle for the Velcro strap are also anodized in the same green color.

Hublot faced the challenge of achieving perfect color harmony among seven different materials in the watch, from the case to the strap. Ensuring color consistency over time is a crucial factor.

The transparent sapphire crystal case back allows a view of the self-winding HUB1280 movement, operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and providing a power reserve of 72 hours. The Big Bang Unico Nespresso Origin is packaged in the Hublot Greenbox, an environmentally friendly and reusable box made entirely of oak wood, with removable recycled components.
